DIRECTOR OF CRICKET

Sutha Thanabalasingam is a Level 3 Accredited Cricket coach appointed by Cricket Australia with 15 years of coaching experience. He currently serves as the Director of Coaching (Head Coach and 1st Grade Coach) at the University of New South Wales (UNSWCC) and previously coached UNSWCC Green Shield for 6 years.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports Science and a Masters in Teaching, Sutha is dedicated to unlocking each player’s full potential through his innovative approach to Instinct Cricket. Come for the skills, stay for the transformation Sutha inspires.

SENIOR PATHWAY COACH

Tarik Viswasam is a Level 2 Accredited Cricket Coach appointed by Cricket Australia with 10 years of coaching experience. He currently serves as the Green Shield Head Coach at the University of New South Wales Cricket Club (UNSWCC) and as the Master in Charge of Cricket at Sydney Grammar Preparatory School (Edgecliff).

Tarik holds a Diploma in Sports Development for Cricket and has previously worked with Cricket NSW as a development officer. As an all-rounder, Tarik currently plays for UNSWCC and has an 8-year history with Blacktown-Mounties Cricket Club (formerly Blacktown Grade Cricket Club).

JUNIOR PATHWAY COACH

Tjayden Newman (TJ) is a Level 1 Accredited Cricket coach appointed by Cricket Australia. With 13 years of playing experience and 3 years of coaching experience, he specialises in fast bowling and batting. Tjayden is dedicated to forming healthy relationships with players to aid their skill and strategy development. His coaching style is grounded in building from the basics, focusing on turning potential weaknesses into strengths for a well-rounded game. He provides individualized attention and emphasises team dynamics.

SENIOR PATHWAY COACH (WICKET KEEPING SPECIALIST)

Nikethan is Instinct Cricket’s Senior Pathway Coach, specialising in First Grade-level wicketkeeping and batting development. He has played First Grade cricket in the Tasmanian Premier Cricket competition and now continues his First Grade career with UNSW Cricket Club in NSW Premier Cricket.

Nikethan’s coaching philosophy focuses on building strong technical foundations and instilling high-performance habits, with an emphasis on wicketkeeping and batting under pressure. He is dedicated to nurturing young players and equipping them with the skills, mindset, and resilience needed to progress to First Grade and beyond.

JUNIOP PATHWAY COACH

Level 2 Accredited Cricket Coach (ECB) with over 5 years of coaching experience across club and academy environments.

Ranjit plays 1st XI cricket for Bickley Park Cricket Club in the Kent League, alongside having represent Kent County Pathways and 2nd XI. This combines playing experience at a high level with a passion for player development. Currently doing an overseas placement with UNSW Cricket club.

Ranjit has been actively involved with the MCC Foundation, contributing to youth coaching programs and performance sessions.

Specialises in batting and spin bowling, with a focus on developing players’ technical skills, game awareness, and confidence under match conditions.

Coaching philosophy: to create an engaging, disciplined and growth-focused environment that empowers players to reach their potential.

JUNIOR PATHWAY COACH

Vibhu is a dedicated Junior Pathway Coach at Instinct Cricket, specialising in spin bowling and batting development. He currently plays First Grade cricket for Sydney Cricket Club in the NSW Premier Cricket competition, bringing elite-level playing experience to his coaching.

Vibhu is passionate about helping players master the technical and tactical aspects of spin bowling and batting, with a focus on developing adaptable, confident cricketers. His coaching philosophy centres on creating a positive learning environment where players are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

JUNIOR PATHWAY COACH

Nihal Desai is an accomplished all-rounder and emerging cricket professional with experience across international and elite domestic competitions. He currently represents UNSW in First Grade Cricket within the NSW Premier Cricket competition and has previously featured as a USA U19 Zonal Player and Minor League Franchise Player in the United States. A PGs Premiership Winner, Nihal combines a deep understanding of high-performance cricket with a passion for continuous technical refinement.

Specialising in batting and bowling skill development, Nihal’s approach blends technical precision with strategic awareness and mental resilience. His focus is on developing complete cricketers who can adapt under pressure, think tactically, and perform consistently at higher levels. Driven by discipline and a growth mindset, Nihal continues to build his career around excellence both on and off the field.
